Prayers for a Nation in Distress

Will North Carolina Appeal Court-ordered Ban on Jesus Prayers?
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, Your word says in Hebrews 4:16 that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy in our time of need. We ask now for Your hand to move on Forsyth County Commissioner Dave Plyler who is the swing vote concerning whether or not people will be able to boldly pray in Jesus Name at local board meetings. Please help us raise part of the $70,000 needed to mitigate the risk of loss, so no tax-payer dollars are risked for our right to pray “in Jesus name,” Amen.

Court Bans Crucifix from British Air Employee
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, thank You for the bold witness of British Airways employee Nadia Eweida, who refused to stop wearing a crucifix at work, which eventually led to the company banning her religious expression. We now pray her case succeeds at the British Supreme Court since her first appeal was rejected by the London court, who ruled the airline could ban the cross as illegal speech. We declare Psalm 94:22, “The Lord has become my fortress, and my God, the rock in whom I take refuge.” God give us victory, in Jesus name, Amen.

Feds Violate Pro-Life Citizens Privacy at Rally
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, thank You for Your word in Daniel 2:22, “You have allowed hidden things to come to light,” concerning the recent privacy violation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Janet Napolatino who admit conducting improper threat assessments against pro-lifers at a Wisconsin rally last year. Thank you for Peggy Hamill, state director of Pro-Life Wisconsin who is considering suing for copies of the DHS report which the government refuses to release to the public. Father we pray for victory for Hamill and all who protect the unborn, in Jesus name, Amen.

Is Judge Overseeing Prop 8 Trial a Homosexual Activist?
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, we pray You remove Judge Vaughn Walker, who was “outed” as a homosexual activist by the San Francisco Chronicle, but still presides over the Proposition 8 trial determining if marriage should be defined as one man and one woman. Father, even though Walker’s extreme rulings have already been overturned by the kooky-liberal 9th circuit court, we pray You fully uphold the voters and California Constitution. Protect traditional marriage as read from Psalm 37:9, “evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land,” in Jesus name, Amen.

Daring Missionary Prophet Released by North Korea
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, thank you for protecting the bold missionary Robert Park who dared to walk across a frozen river into North Korea with letters confronting Kim Jong Il, demanding he close the brutal anti-Christian prison camps and stop religious persecution throughout the closed nation. God You alone spared Park’s life, which could’ve easily been taken in this communist country. We now pray You overthrow the oppression of this government. From 2Corinthians 3:17: where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, in Jesus name, Amen.

Haitian Judge Recommends Release of Detained Baptists
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, we thank You for guiding the Haitian judge who recommended that ten United States missionaries who were charged with kidnapping should be released from jail. We pray that prosecutor Josephe Mannes Louis would agree with this recommendation next week. And we thank You for manifesting James 1:27 toward the children in this situation: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world,” in Jesus name, Amen.

Christians Arrested in Iran on Christmas Eve
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, from Hebrews 13:3 we remember those who are in prison, as if we were their fellow prisoner. We pray for three new Christian prisoners in Iran: Maryam Jalili, Mitra Zahmati, and Farzan Matin who sit locked in Evin prison in Tehran since Christmas Eve 2009, arrested while worshipping in a house church. Lord, we pray for Your comfort, strength, peace, and Spirit to rest on them while they are imprisoned, as well as their loved ones outside of prison, and we ask for a quick release for them, in Jesus name, Amen.

Pentagon Burns Soldiers Bibles - Military Chaplains Attacked

"A Pentagon spokesman under the Obama Administration has just acknowledged seizing and burning the privately owned Bibles of American soldiers serving in Afghanistan. The Bibles had been printed in the local Pashto and Dari languages, and sent by private donors last year to American Christian soldiers and chaplains, for distribution to American troops on overseas military bases during optionally-attended Christian worship services. Had the Bibles not been recently seized and destroyed, they could have legally been given as gifts during off-duty time to Afghani citizens who welcome our troops in their homes, as an expression of American gratitude for Afghani hospitality, promoting the democratic ideals of freedom of religion and freedom of the press.

But the Muslim controlled Al Jazeera television network obtained video footage of the Bibles, held by American soldiers while listening to a chaplain on the Bagram Air Base (inside the base chapel) whose sermon encouraged outreach and personal evangelism. The American values of freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of Christian speech offended some extremist Muslim groups, and angered a small group of American atheists, who demanded the chaplain be punished for "proselytizing" because he simply repeated Jesus' words to "Go and make disciples of all nations" in church. (Can you imagine their outrage if we burned the Koran, instead of the Bible?)

Caving in to pressure from the Muslims and Atheist groups, the U.S. military spokesman Maj. Jennifer Willis told Reuters reporters, "I can now confirm that the Bibles shown on Al Jazeera's clip were, in fact, collected by the chaplains and later destroyed. They were never distributed." Her careful use of the words "later" and "now" indicate the Bibles were destroyed this month, not last year, only after and because of the recently publicized video. When questioned about the authenticity of the Al Jazeera video, U.S. Army Colonel Greg Julian admitted the Al Jazeera reporting was biased against the American Christians: "Most of this is taken out of context ... this is irresponsible and inappropriate journalism."

GENERAL DOUGLAS MACARTHUR ENCOURAGED EVANGELISM
After World War II, in order to carry out the democratization of Japan, Five-Star General Of The Army Douglas MacArthur brought Christian leaders to the country to meet with Emperor Hirohito and encouraged mass distribution of Bibles to the population. MacArthur later stated to a visiting American churchman, "We must have ten thousand Christian missionaries and a million Bibles to complete the occupation of this land."

But today, instead of confronting Muslim and Atheist enemies of religious liberty, President Obama's Four-Star Admiral Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs Mike Mullen now appears to defend the destruction of the soldiers' privately owned Bibles, stating during a Pentagon briefing that the military's position is that it will never "push any specific religion." He did not address the possibility that by seizing and burning privately owned Bibles, the Obama Administration is now enforcing atheistic silence upon our troops, against their private rights."
