One Minute Prayers for the Nation

Tuesday 29 Dec. 09
Bible Clubs Offered in Two Seattle Elementary Schools
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, we rejoice for the work of Child Evangelism Fellowship, who now legally offers after school Bible clubs called the Good News Clubs, in two Seattle public elementary schools, despite complaints by easily offended atheist groups. We remember Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” God bless each child who attends Bible study, and their parents who allow them to go. God increase their numbers, and open more doors for them, in Jesus Name, Amen.

The Evening Prayer Weekly National News Alert
We don't just report the news, we pray the scriptures, in Jesus' name.

Ben Nelson compromises on abortion and “health” care
Let us pray. Almighty God, we express disappointment in Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska (D-NE), who claims to be pro-life, and promised to “draw a line in the sand,” but now has broken his promise, and compromised with pro-abortion Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), to allow federal funding and our tax-dollars to subsidize elective abortions, so long as the individual choosing to kill their child writes a separate monthly check to co-pay for that coverage. God help all 50 states opt out, from Proverbs 6:17, God hates a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, in Jesus name, Amen.

Bill Would Give Okay to Chaplain’s Prayer
Let Us Pray. Almighty God, we pray for Virginia Delegate Bill Carrico, (R-Grayson), who is reintroducing a bill to prohibit the state police chief from censoring the content of chaplains’ prayers at public events, after State Police Col. Steven Flaherty told police chaplains that they could no longer pray “denominational” prayers, and banned speech invoking Jesus’ name, forcing six chaplains to resign in protest. We pray Proverbs 11:10 that when the righteous prosper, the city rejoices. God lead Governor Bob McDonnell to reinstate those police chaplains by executive order, and their right to pray, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Washington DC City Council legalizes gay “marriage”
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray You allow a popular vote to overturn the decision of the Washington DC city council, who just legalized homosexual marriage, against the will of the people. The cowardly U.S. Congress will likely let that bill become law without taking action, but we pray that courageous churches will rise up in referendum against it.  in Jesus name, Amen.

Maine Today reporter fired for responding to homosexual’s email attacks
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray you bless Larry Grard, a reporter for 19 years at the Maine Today newspaper, who was fired from his journalist job for righteousness sake, because he replied to an email sent by a homosexual activist who criticized his pro-marriage reporting. God bless the citizens of Maine who rose up to vote against gay “marriage” last month, and reward them even if they are criticized or penalized, from Matthew 5:10, Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, in Jesus name, Amen.

Atheist Legislator will violate North Carolina Constitution
Let us pray. Almighty God, we pray You uphold the North Carolina Constitution and unseat the newly elected Asheville City Councilman Cecil Bothwell, a self-proclaimed atheist, who fails to meet the qualifications for public office-holders, because he does not believe in God. God give victory to those planning to sue the city to enforce North Carolina’s Constitution, and God enforce Your law, even if we fail to enforce ours, from  Isaiah 55:9, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways higher than our ways, and God’s thoughts higher than our thoughts, in Jesus name, Amen.

PREAMBLE
We, the people of the State of North Carolina, grateful to Almighty God, the Sovereign Ruler of Nations, for the preservation of the American Union and the existence of our civil, political and religious liberties, and acknowledging our dependence upon Him for the continuance of those blessings to us and our posterity, do, for the more certain security thereof and for the better government of this State, ordain and establish this Constitution.

Excerpt From North Carolina State Constitution

Sec. 8. Disqualifications of office. The following persons shall be disqualified for office:

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus!Let us pray. Almighty God, we celebrate Your incarnation at the birth of Jesus, when God became a man and humbled Himself to share in our trials, temptations, and sufferings, but won the victory against sin by dying on the cross to pay the atoning sacrifice, so we could be forgiven. We pray from  Isaiah 9:6, unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, in Jesus name, Amen.

British couple cleared of anti-Muslim “speech crime”
Let us pray. Almighty God, we praise your for answering our prayer from 30 Sep 09, and exonerating Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang, Christian hotel owners in Britain, who faced criminal prosecution for “religiously aggravated” public disorder and £5,000 fine, because they defended the Christian faith and criticized Islam in a verbal debate with a muslim guest in their own hotel. The muslim complained to police of being offended by the gospel, and they couple lost 80% of their customers. From Psalm 35:23, God awake and arise to their defense, contend for them, and give them full victory, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Disclaimer: The views of Chaplain Klingenschmitt, who was honorably but involuntarily discharged from the Navy in 2007 after facing court-martial for praying 'in Jesus name' in uniform, (but was later vindicated by Congress), are his own personal views, not the views of any political party, government, or organization.

Poem - Prayer Within a Festive Christmas

Wakened shadows of bright lights glow from within my heart,
To feel the beating ember of cheer, hopeful and stalwart.
There amidst the clamor of Christmas bells, I know
Glory and honor due to You this season will flow
Even up into the heavens.

A silent prayer within me swells,
Alight with thanksgiving that dwells
For always within for the Son whose name we praise
And celebrate with peace and love on holy days
Throughout all the earth.

O Blessed Redeemer, never does Your beauty wane.
Robed in splendor, You are king To forever reign.
We triumph in Your coronation,
Rejoice in our eternal salvation
From within the depths of our souls.

Book Review - Bible Believer's Handbook

The Bible Believer's Handbook truly is a handbook to help us in certain categories of life to understand how to act according to God's Word. It dissects issues we face and then gives answers according to the Scriptures. For those of us who believe, we realize our advantage to know the ideas that originated in the mind of God. Larry Vaughn explains that our country was once a kinder nation, a time that he lived through. It was a time when people took God and His advice to us seriously. Today, we have banned God from the public arena, and our nation as a whole has become coarser, more lazy, and flippant.

The book is divided into sections and is very easy to navigate. The first three sections emphasize the positive. In The Things of God, he discusses topics such as Heaven, the Holy Spirit, and the Will of God, while the Things God Expects You to Do shows from the Bible that we should be faithful, control our speech, and do good works. Section 3 is Good Things and that they come from good trees--good things such as confidence, courage, endurance, and wisdom. Courage, for example, is continuing to believe and act according to God's Word, believing it is the best way, even when the outside circumstances seem hopeless.

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord
thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake
thee.
Deuteronomy 31:6.

Sections 4 and 5 have to do with the havoc and evil that ensures because of disobedience to God's laws and why some people are losers. When you put your faith in the world, you are deceived in trusting a snare which is under the curse of sin and death; and your disappointment knows no comfort. Bitterness, vengefulness, and foolishness are the fruits such trust can produce.
Then he (Larry Vaughn) ends with a question, Which choice will you make? Will you follow God and accept with peace whatever comes as a result of that choice? Will you be a living sacrifice to glorify God? Or will you become one of life's losers, one who gets impatient, depressed, and frustrated easily over life's setbacks? This book makes you think deeply, yet simply, over such a choice.

Ireland’s Pro-Life Laws Under Threat

One minute prayer: Almighty God, we pray You protect the pro-life Constitution of Ireland which outlaws abortion, but could be overturned across Europe, in a power-grab lawsuit that could have the same bad impact as Roe v. Wade had in America. Lord, we pray earnestly from Deuteronomy 30:19, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” We also pray You would turn the hearts of those filing this lawsuit back to You, the one and only giver of life, in Jesus Name, Amen.

New York Rejects Gay Marriage, New Jersey Vote Soon

One Minute Prayer: Almighty God, we thank You for answering our prayer from November 27th when we asked that You would stop homosexual marriage in New York, where the Senate voted 38-24 to reject gay marriage. God we now pray for another victory in New Jersey, where they will vote this Thursday in a lame-duck session, whether to force homosexual marriage on conservative people who just voted against the liberal government agenda. From Genesis 5:2, “He created them male and female and blessed them.” Preserve the institution of marriage. in Jesus Name, Amen.

Arizona Church Ordered to Stop Feeding Homeless

One Minute Prayer: Almighty God, we pray Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” God bless the Cross Roads United Methodist Church who has faithfully obeyed Your word for 50 years, but now has been told by a coldhearted retired Justice Robert Corcoran to stop feeding the homeless due to “zoning violations” and complaints by some residents. The church appealed this ruling, so we ask that You would rule in favor of the church who feeds the poor, in Jesus name, Amen.

NC Lesbian Adoption Case Continues - State Senator Julia Boseman (D-New Hanover)

One Minute Prayer: Almighty God, we pray for a North Carolina child since a court has ruled in favor of the non-biological “parent” and took the child away from his biological mother, Melissa Jarrell. He will now live under the influence of the deviant homosexual lifestyle.  God, Your will is that every child have a mother and a father, but for those who don’t, we pray Psalm 27:10, though your mother and father forsake you, the Lord will receive you, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Massachusetts Town Outlaws "Merry Christmas" Sign

One Minute Prayer: Almighty God, we pray for the North Andover town counsel to come to their senses, as not only have they removed a Merry Christmas sign from a fire station where it had stood for 50 years, but also removed a Jewish menorah during the 8 days of Hanukkah. Lord we pray from Isaiah 9:6, Unto us a child is born, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders. Help the counsel implement this Truth, in Jesus Name, Amen

ACLU Continues to Harass Christian Educators

One Minute Prayer: Almighty God, grant victory for Liberty Counsel and the Christian Educators Association International, who are standing up to anti-Christian bullies at the ACLU, who are aggressively trying to overturn a recent court order protecting Frank Lay, Robert Freeman, and Michelle Winkler who offered a prayer at a meal. Lord, from Amos 5:24 we pray that justice would roll on like a river, and that you would give courage to Judge Rodgers, who is now in control of this ruling, even while she is being threatened with impeachment by the enemies of liberty, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Korean Physician Faces Death-Threats after Pro-Life Conversion

One Minute of Prayer: Almighty God, we rejoice with You that Korean physician, Shim Sang-duk, who provided abortions for twenty years, has now not only stopped providing abortions after admitting that he watched post-abortive women cry tears unlike any tears cried by mothers who gave birth, but is urging other obstetricians to stop killing the preborn children in South Korea. We thank you from Ezekiel 36:26 and we pray You protect him, as he faces death threats for no longer doing abortions, in Jesus Name, Amen.
